Yorkshire and Humberside Judo held a competitive Dan Grading at Goole Leisure Centre on Sunday 19th October.
There was a low turnout probably due to the national Masters competition being held over the week-end at the same time.
Attending the grading there were 9 x 1st Kyu men and 3 x 1st Dan men. There were no ladies registering to take part. A traditional mixed age grading was held for the 1st Kyu’s but the 1st Dans had to be content with fighting each other to secure points only.
The 1st Kyu grading ended up with five candidates achieving line-ups with four of the five successfully achieving the 50 points for their 1st Dan subject to completing the Competitive Dan Grade Theory skills.
One candidate had already completed his Theory requirements and subject to Head Office approval should receive confirmation of his 1st Dan shortly.
Each of the three 1st Dan candidates had a 10 point from their two fights.
There is a further opportunity to gain promotion at the National Dan grading to be held at York RI on Saturday 15th November. See the events section on the Y& H web site.
