A Lifetime Achievement Award for over 60 Years of Judo

Parry Asquith honoured by being made Honorary President of the West Yorkshire Judo County and given a “Lifetime Achievement Award” 

Sunday 17th November, Parry Asquith and his wife, Jackie, attended the West Yorkshire Judo Championships and development competition at Sedbergh Sports Centre in Bradford, close to the now redundant Richard Dunn sports centre. During this event, Parry was honoured by being made Honorary President of the West Yorkshire Judo County and presented with a “Lifetime Achievement Award” by West Yorkshire Judo Chairman Gordon Lambert in front of hundreds competitors and visitors.

The West Yorkshire Judo Championships and Development Event

This event has been heralded as CELEBRATION of GRASS ROOTS JUDO. it was only the second time the event has been held at Sedburgh Liesure Centre which is a newly built facility close to site of the old Richard Dunn sports centre.

The Event attracted hundreds of entries from over 40 clubs from all over the North of England allowing valuable competition experience for novices and intermediate judoka alike, and playing an important role in developing grass roots Judo throughout the North of England.

Glaspalast 2024

On Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th July, Yorkshire & Humberside Judo took across a team to take part in the International Judo Tournament in the Glaspalast Stadium, Sindelfingen, Germany. This event had over 2000 competitors from over 19 nations. The tournament is set over an impressive 9 mat areas, and most weight categories contain over 20 players.
