Danny Kissenisky, head coach of the East Yorkshire Judo Academy (EYJA) has been awarded his 6 th Dan by the British Judo Association.

Danny’s participation in Judo started over forty years ago. He won national and international medals at both junior and senior levels including a silver at the
1992 Commonwealth Championships.

On retirement from competition Danny began his coaching career. He set up and continues to develop a highly successful before and after school programme
across Hull and the East Riding, as well as being a founder member of the EYJA. He has also coached for the BJA’s Pathway Programme. Danny is a vital member of the EYJA coaching team, where he coaches three times a week. We are so fortunate to benefit from his significant experience and
skills, as well as his unique sense of humour and good nature, which combined, has made him a highly respected coach.

His dedication to the club and players has played a major role in the success of the club and its members. Over the years he has guided numerous players, both young people and adults, from beginner to Dan grade. Many now compete on the national and international stage.

Dermot Heslop, the BJA’s National Technical and Education Co-Ordinator, presented Danny with his 6th Dan at a surprise event at the Senior Club attended by current and former players.
