Sheffield Judo Club approaches 65 years old - looking for info

Sheffield Judo CLub turns 65 next year. To mark the occasion they are hoping to put together a history of the club and are appealing for any info people may have about the history of the club.

Did you train at the Sheffield Judo Club? Do you know anything about old members, coaches, committees etc?

Do you have access to any photos you would be able to share with the club as they pull together their history (of course all photos will be returned)?

9th February 2014 saw three Olympians, Rowena Birch, Chloe Cowen and 2012 medallist Karina Bryant visit Goole to run a very well attended Judo masterclass. The Yorkshire and Humberside Judo committee were pleased to present a donation to Rowena Birch for the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust in memory of Ryan Birch.

In addition to approximately 40 coaches and 50 children, also in attendance were the Mayor and Mayoress of Goole.

Contest rules workshop

You may be aware that the EJU held a seminar in Malaga in January where further changes to the IJF contest rules were proposed.
 
We are just waiting for the BJA Board of Directors to approve the changes and the new rules will then be applied in BJA Competitions.
 
It's important that Referees, Coaches and Players are fully aware of the changes and what rules will be applied in 2014 before they are introduced.
 
To pass on this information, a short workshop has been arranged on Sunday 16th February at

All Y & H Referees and Coaches are invited to attend free of charge. Casual dress is acceptable - you will not need judogis or refereeing uniform! Just bring a notepad and pen.
 
The Workshop will start at 1.30pm prompt and finish about 3.30pm. Please ensure you arrive in good time.
