Latest news in the world of Judo within the Yorkshire and Humberside area.
Have some interesting news from your club? Let us know and we'll share it here.
Firstly, I would like to thank parents, players, officials and committee members
for their support throughout 2013. There have been a number of initiatives
from the BJA which have changed how we apply our selves to the sport of
Judo. As a group we have also had to overcome the death of Peter Simpson
who worked tremendously hard in making competitions a success. With the
help of our home-grown referees and competition officials we have managed
to keep our competitions up to date with national changes.
Once again, we can see the good results from players who have dedicated
themselves to the improvement in skills and fitness. These achievements
come from the long hours of dedication put in by players and coaches at all
levels throughout the Area. The provision for coach revalidation in the Area
has been maintained as well as an open approach for coaches and players
to participate in the Area's excellence program. The training courses for
coaches and players have been maintained this year and we hope to be able to
organise them again during next year.
The Area with the help of governing body technical officers are trying to
encourage more participation at County level. We know from experience that
it is there where it all starts.
The Y&H Web site has been a success throughout the year and we feel it is an
essential form of communication for everyone active within the Area.
The Y&H Area is only as good as the people participating in it and I hope we
will all continue making it a success in 2014.

Most coaches are now submitting the correct grade registration fees, thank you all for your support on this.
However, some coaches are submitting £10 for under 8 years old judoka. The fee for under 8’s is £7.50. We are refunding coaches but it all takes time.
We are drafting a grade registration form with columns to make recording fees easier, but in the meantime whilst using up old forms we are attaching stickers to indicate new fees. The office have also sent out information to all clubs with their annual renewal docs.

Horncastle Judo Club recently had some assistance from a group of teenagers on the Citizenship Programme who volunteered to redecorate the building the Judo club uses. They successfully sourced materials by asking local businesses for donations.
One of the young men involved, who has already battled with cancer twice, asked if the Judo club could help raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Horncastle Judo club agreed to this request and will be holding a fundraising day on 23rd November 2013, 1100hrs to 1600hrs. There will be a Judo session 1400hrs to 1600hrs with a £2 donation per person which includes a Lincolnshire hotdog or cheeseburger.
All proceeds from the day will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
